The Morendat Institute of Oil &Gas (MIOG) recently conducted a successful Welder Qualification Test (WQT) for ten staff members from GREENBO Africa Ltd, a leading engineering and infrastructure solutions provider in East Africa.
The certification assessments were carried out in line with internationally recognized standards:
- ISO 9606-1:2012 (Qualification testing of welders – Fusion welding) and
- ISO 5817:2014 (Quality levels for imperfections in fusion-welded joints).
The rigorous testing confirmed the welders’ technical competence and adherence to global quality expectations. Each participant received official certification from MIOG upon meeting the required benchmarks.
This initiative was to support GREENBO Africa’s ongoing collaboration with the American Tower Company (ATC), a global operator of wireless and broadcast communication infrastructure. As ATC expands its footprint in Kenya’s telecommunications sector, ensuring a qualified and safety-conscious workforce
is key to sustainable infrastructure development.
Through industry-aligned programs like this, MIOG continues to promote technical excellence and workforce readiness, reinforcing its commitment to delivering skilled professionals to meet evolving demands in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
