Morendat School of Hospitality highlights Kenya’s tourism and MICE potential, fostering skills development and excellence at Jamhuri Thematic Week.
The Morendat School of Hospitality, the flagship hospitality training centre under the Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas National Polytechnic (MIOG-NP), played a leading role at the recent Jamhuri Thematic Week on Tourism, Wildlife, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).
The event took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from 8th to 12th December 2025. MIOG-NP leveraged the platform to showcase its commitment to high-level skills development, a key factor in transforming Kenya’s tourism and hospitality standards.
The week-long festival brought together government leaders, industry experts, investors, and the public. It highlighted Kenya’s cultural heritage, iconic wildlife, and the expanding hospitality and MICE sectors. The event also emphasized tourism’s economic significance and Kenya’s strategic position as a growing global hub for meetings and events.
Government Support and Industry Collaboration
At the launch, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano, stressed that the festival celebrated Kenya’s tourism potential and encouraged partnerships among government, private sector, and local communities. Her remarks highlighted the need for collaboration to unlock the full potential of Kenya’s tourism and MICE industry.
MIOG-NP’s Strategic Role
MIOG-NP’s presence at the event came at a pivotal momemt, followingthe launch of the Morendat School of Hospitality, which addresses Kenya’s growing demand for skilled hospitality professionals. The school was showcased as a centre of excellence, dedicated to raising service standards, strengthening workforce readiness, and preparing the next generation of hospitality professionals.
