MIOG-NP & Okame Technical MOU

The Morendat Institute of Oil & Gas National Polytechnic (MIOG–NP) and Okame Technical & Vocational College (OKAME TVC) have signed a comprehensive five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening technical education, enhancing industry-aligned training, and advancing shared priorities within Kenya’s TVET ecosystem.

The agreement creates a structured framework for collaboration. The two institutions will jointly develop and improve curricula in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, instrumentation, computing, welding, business studies, and energy technology. This work aims to keep training programmes relevant to market demands and emerging industry trends.

A key focus of the MOU is trainer capacity building. The institutions will offer industry attachments, technical seminars, and continuous professional development to enhance trainer skills. MIOG–NP will also support OKAME TVC staff with in-service training, extension outreach, and exchange programmes that promote knowledge sharing.

The partnership will implement dual training models that blend classroom learning with practical industry exposure. Both institutions will help trainers and trainees pursue international certifications, expanding their global competitiveness. The MOU also supports Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for technicians seeking formal accreditation.

To advance innovation, the two institutions will collaborate in research projects, innovation activities, and participation in TVET fairs. They will jointly bid for consultancy work and co-develop proposals for grants, scholarships, and development funding as part of a shared resource mobilization effort.

The agreement also strengthens job linkages and business incubation support for graduates, helping improve employability and entrepreneurship. Both institutions will cooperate in publicity, marketing, and corporate social responsibility initiatives to increase community engagement and institutional visibility.

This partnership marks a major step in advancing high-quality technical education in Kenya. It demonstrates MIOG–NP’s role as a national centre of excellence and supports OKAME TVC’s mission to expand access to practical, community-based training.
