About Course

This 40-hour hands-on short course introduces the core principles, standards, and practical skills of professional housekeeping in hotels, resorts, lodges, and guest houses. It covers room preparation, cleaning procedures, guest service, safety, and sustainability. Designed for beginners, it prepares learners for entry-level housekeeping attendant or room steward roles with a focus on 3-5star service standards common in the Kenyan Hotel/Resorts.Graduates can move into: Room Attendant, Public Area Cleaner, Linen Room Assistant, or Housekeeping Supervisor Trainee roles. Pathway to KNEC Craft Certificate in Housekeeping, TVET Level 4, or departmental cross-training in Laundry.

Assessment

  • Assessment combines practical room service and bed-making tests (70%), a theory quiz on safety and procedures (15%), and professionalism (15%). A minimum overall score of 70% is required to pass
