MORENDAT GOVERNING COUNCIL

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), under the TVET Act (Cap 210A, 2013), mandates that every national polytechnic constitutes a Governing Council.

Functions of the Governing Council

The Governing Council of the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the effective governance and sustainable development of the institution. Its key functions include:

  • Policy Formulation: Establishing institutional policies and setting the strategic direction.
  • Governance Oversight: Monitoring academic, financial, and administrative performance.
  • Leadership Appointment: Participating in the recruitment and appraisal of senior management.
  • Financial Stewardship: Approving budgets and overseeing the prudent use of resources.
  • Infrastructure Development: Guiding the planning and implementation of capital projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring compliance with national TVET standards and promoting academic excellence.
  • Partnerships and Linkages: Fostering collaborations with industry and development partners.
  • Equity and Inclusivity: Promoting access and inclusion for all, including marginalized groups.
  • Reporting and Accountability: Ensuring transparent reporting to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

The Council plays a central role in aligning the Institute’s operations with national TVET goals and industry needs.
