MIOG-NP strengthens global training through new MoUs with leading Canadian institutions, enhancing skills development, innovation, and international collaboration.
In a significant step towards expanding its international footprint and advancing technical training excellence, MIOG-NP has signed two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading Canadian institutions. This development follows a recent visit to Canada led by Director Dr. Nancy Kosgei, alongside Registrar Eng. James Kahero and Deputy Director, Research and Innovation, Ms. Sheila Chepsiror.
Partnership with the Canadian Petroleum Training Institute (CPTI)
Firstly, the delegation engaged with the Canadian Petroleum Training Institute International Inc. (CPTI) in Calgary. During this engagement, Dr. Kosgei signed an MoU with the President and Chief Executive Officer of CPTI.
As a result, the partnership establishes a strong foundation for collaboration in oil and gas training. In addition, it supports knowledge exchange, curriculum development, and joint exploration of emerging opportunities in clean energy technologies.
Furthermore, this agreement is expected to strengthen institutional capacity in conventional oil and gas training. It will also enhance curriculum relevance to meet evolving industry demands. In the long term, both institutions aim to develop a pipeline of highly skilled professionals who can effectively contribute to the global energy sector.
Collaboration with Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)
In addition, the delegation signed a second MoU with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), represented by Associate Vice President Mr. James Aldridge. Notably, this partnership builds on NAIT’s recent visit to Kenya, which helped strengthen earlier institutional engagements.
During discussions, both institutions identified key areas of mutual interest. These include capacity building in welding for both trainers and trainees. Moreover, the partnership will support student and staff exchange programmes. It will also promote joint research and innovation initiatives aimed at strengthening technical education and workforce development.
In addition, the MIOG-NP delegation toured NAIT’s state-of-the-art training facilities. As a result, they gained first-hand exposure to world-class training methodologies. They also observed advanced technologies and industry-driven approaches that enhance skills development and employability.
Strengthening Global Excellence in Technical Training
Overall, these landmark partnerships represent a major milestone. They reinforce MIOG-NP’s commitment to strengthening its position as a globally established centre of excellence in technical and vocational education and training.
Through these strategic international collaborations, the Institute continues to expand opportunities for knowledge exchange. Furthermore, MIOG-NP continues enhancing innovation capacity and developing highly skilled professionals who are prepared to meet the evolving demands of industry.
