As part of its 3-year capacity-building partnership with Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen), MIOG-NP conducted two intensive rounds of Emergency Response Training (ERT) for KenGen staff at its Eldoret Campus, running from 1st–12th September and 22nd September–3rd October 2025. The sessions drew participants from across KenGen’s operations.

The trainings were designed to equip participants with critical skills in fire risk identification, emergency preparedness, and rapid response strategies. Over the course of the program, staff learned how to identify fire risks and workplace hazards unique to industrial and energy facilities, and gained a deeper understanding of how fires start, spread, and can be controlled through proper emergency management principles. They were trained in the safe and effective operation of firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and hose reels, and practiced evacuation protocols and first-response drills to ensure they could respond to emergencies with confidence.

This initiative underscores MIOG-NP’s unwavering commitment to delivering industry-relevant Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training, which is vital for workforce development in high-risk sectors such as oil and gas and power generation.
