At MIOG-NP, safety goes beyond compliance, it is embedded in everything we do. Driven by this commitment, we are delivering an intensive 10-day Basic Firefighting Level 1 training, for teams from . African Gas & Oil Company (AGOL) and Konza Technopolis.
The intensive certification course, currently underway at the KPRL Fire Training School, began on Monday, March 23, and is scheduled to conclude on April 3, 2026.The training immerses participants in practical firefighting techniques, equipping them with the critical skills, confidence, and readiness required to respond decisively in real-world fire emergencies.
From Foundation to Field Readiness
As the program progresses, trainees have continued to engage in a balanced mix of physical conditioning and technical instruction. This way, they are prepared both mentally and physically for the demands of firefighting. By Day 3, the focus had already shifted toward building endurance. At the same time, participants began using fire hose reels and learned how to select the right extinguishers for different fire classes. As a result, they established a strong foundation for more advanced skills.
By Day 4, the training moved deeper into operational techniques. Trainees actively practiced hose rolling and folding while gaining a clearer understanding of hoses and fittings. In addition, ongoing fitness sessions strengthened teamwork, coordination, and resilience. These qualities are essential in real-life emergencies. Throughout the day, the team’s energy remained high. More importantly, their enthusiasm showed a clear commitment to learning and improvement.
Stepping Into Live Fire Scenarios
On Day 5, the training reached a critical stage. Trainees stepped into live fire simulations for the first time. As a result, they faced controlled flames and applied their skills in real time. During these exercises, participants used different extinguishers while also testing foam suppression techniques on fuel fires. Additionally, they handled high-pressure water systems of up to 8 bar. Meanwhile, teams worked together to manage 38mm and 64mm hoses during active fire attacks. Overall, this experience pushed them to stay focused and support one another under pressure.
Our expert trainers guided every step of the process. They demonstrated how to use dry powder extinguishers effectively and how to apply foam in fast-spreading fires. In turn, trainees gained practical insight and improved their response strategies. Each session built not only technical skill but also confidence. As a result, participants became more decisive in high-pressure situations.
Growing Confidence and Capability
As the training continues, the teams show strong discipline, energy, and eagerness to learn. Moreover, they consistently apply what they learn and improve with each session. As a result, they are developing both technical mastery and a deeper understanding of safety practices. Through initiatives like this, MIOG-NP continues to strengthen emergency preparedness and empower teams to protect people, assets, and environments with confidence.
