MIOG-NP continues to strengthen its partnership with the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) PLC Inuka Foundation by delivering community-focused programmes that promote safety, sustainable livelihoods, and skills development. The initiatives target communities living along the Kenya Pipeline Company’s right-of-way and are creating lasting social impact.

Fire Safety Training Equips Community Members with Life-Saving Skills

One of the flagship initiatives is a three-day Fire Safety Awareness Training Programme for 85 residents from the Viwandani community. The programme, which began on 23 June 2026, is fully sponsored by the KPC Inuka Foundation.

The training equips participants with practical skills in fire prevention, firefighting, emergency response, and safe evacuation. As a result, community members are better prepared to respond to fire emergencies and protect lives and property.

So far, two cohorts have successfully completed the programme. Meanwhile, the remaining cohort is expected to conclude training by 10 July 2026. By the end of the programme, all participants will have gained practical firefighting skills that contribute to safer and more resilient communities.

Advanced Firefighting Training Expands Community Capacity

In addition to the awareness programme, the KPC Inuka Foundation has sponsored another group of 20 residents to undertake a 10-day Basic Firefighting Training at the Fire & Safety School in Eldoret from 13 to 24 July 2026.

The advanced training will strengthen participants’ firefighting competencies and emergency response capabilities. Consequently, they will be better equipped to support their communities during fire emergencies and help reduce fire-related risks.

Promoting Clean Energy and Skills Development

Beyond fire safety, MIOG-NP partnered with the KPC Inuka Foundation during the Clean Energy Transition Programme held in Mukuru Viwandani, Nairobi, on 19 June 2026.

The initiative reached more than 100 households, with each family receiving a 6 kg LPG starter kit. The programme aims to encourage the adoption of clean cooking solutions while reducing dependence on traditional fuels. As a result, participating households can enjoy safer, cleaner, and more sustainable energy sources.

The event also gave MIOG-NP an opportunity to engage directly with community members. During the programme, Ms. Pamela Ondago showcased the Institute’s wide range of technical and vocational training programmes. Furthermore, she encouraged young people to enrol in industry-driven courses that enhance employability and create sustainable livelihoods.

Building Safer and More Sustainable Communities

The partnership between MIOG-NP and the KPC Inuka Foundation continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration in transforming communities. Through practical skills training, safety awareness, and clean energy initiatives, the two institutions are improving lives and creating new opportunities for residents.

As the programmes continue, MIOG-NP remains committed to empowering communities with the knowledge and practical skills needed to build safer homes, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
